A home-cleaning brand manufacturing in China is offered an audience of recent category buyers. Its producer is asked to shoot another vacuum launch ad. Before approving that brief, ask whether those buyers need a replacement machine, a compatible accessory or simply time to use the one they just bought.

What the integration establishes

Attain's 4 November 2026 company release, distributed by GlobeNewswire, announced native activation of its purchase-based audiences in Amazon Ads DVA+. It describes segmentation by retailer, purchase category and online or in-store channel. Amazon's 29 September DVA+ announcement describes different controls in its automatic and advanced workflows, including suppression in advanced settings. Sources checked on 5 November. Neither establishes what a given account can access or that a segment reveals a shopper's exact model or next buying date.

Brief the next job, rather than the past transaction

ONCE's post-purchase brief asks for one next action and one reason it might be wrong. If you expect replenishment, ask whether the purchase window fits a plausible usage period. If you expect an accessory sale, check whether the unit can be identified or whether the viewer needs a compatibility check. If you expect a machine replacement, look for a reason beyond the recent category purchase. If none exists, delay the hard sell or test suppression where the controls and audience definition allow it.

For the hypothetical vacuum brand, a category audience might mix buyers of machines and bags. A daily signal refresh would not make it a one-day purchase cohort. Ask the buyer for the lookback window and included categories and channels. With category information alone, a short demonstration of where to find a model number may be more useful than claiming a bag will fit. Do not write the script as though the brand knows what is in someone's home.

Make audience and footage earn their budgets separately

Start with an approved common asset and a small, comparable audience test. Record placements, spend, optimisation, overlap and how outcomes are counted. Use controlled assignment where feasible; otherwise treat differences as diagnostic. If the audience is viable, compare the specialist demonstration with the common version within a comparable audience. Changing the audience and footage at the same time prevents a clean reading of either decision.

Ask for separate lines for data and media, shared production, the specialist shot and evaluation. When briefing ONCE's production team, bring a confirmed segment definition and the question the new shot needs to answer. Save that pairing alongside the approved clips and results for the next campaign. The example describes a decision method, not measured results for a client or for the integration.
