A brand with a product sample at its factory in China has one studio slot this month. Its agency expects new streaming TV inventory in two countries, but neither local order is confirmed. The production decision is what to capture while the sample is available, and what to leave until the local campaign has a date and a product buyers can actually order.
Use rollout announcements to plan, then verify availability
In its 4 November 2026 announcement, Criteo outlined an expansion of Performance CTV beyond the United States. It plans to begin with Brazil and Mexico by the end of 2026, with markets including Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Australia to follow in 2027. As checked on 5 November, this is a company rollout plan. It does not establish that a given account can book a specific placement on a specific date. Its reported customer results are not a forecast for another advertiser.
Use the ONCE market release sheet before committing spend
Give each market a row. Record the proposed opening date, the media buyer's written confirmation of inventory and specs, the product lead's sellable SKU, and the local owner's approval of the promise and destination. List what remains unknown and who can resolve it. Then assign work to three scopes.
| Scope | What to commission | What to verify first |
|---|---|---|
| Shared capture | Product operations and neutral footage that support named, confirmed uses. | Verify that the relevant physical parts and claims are the same. |
| Reversible preparation | Textless elements, replaceable end cards, terminology and scratch tracks. | Check that revisions remain possible without another shoot or final recording. |
| Local release | Final voice, market-specific packaging or offers, and placement exports. | Obtain a bookable placement and a sellable SKU with an approved destination. |
These are purchasing decisions rather than platform eligibility rules. A confirmed product-page campaign can justify a local asset independently of CTV. Conversely, a bookable spot does not justify a claim about a model or accessory the retailer cannot supply.
Compare the cost of filming now with the cost of restarting
Ask for the incremental cost of capturing the extra material during the existing studio session and compare it with a later pickup, including sample movement, crew setup and review. Price separately the rework if the assumption proves wrong and any delay against an already committed delivery date. Do not credit reuse in a market that has no identified use. This comparison is a costing method, not an industry rate or a claim of savings.
For a hypothetical countertop appliance, the US and Mexican units might share the same bowl-lock action while the controls and packaging differ. Capture the verified common mechanism now. Hold close-ups of regional controls, retail packs, local offers and final voiceover until the relevant market has signed them off. If the product team discovers a different mechanism on one model, change the shared-shot list before filming. This example is not a client result.
Make the next shoot easier to commission
Ask the China-side producer to mark every proposed shot as common, market-specific or pending a product check. Bring that list to the media buyer and local sales lead before approving the schedule. A managed library can then preserve why each shot was cleared and where it applies, making it easier to quote the next release without assuming yesterday's footage still fits. Use that verified list when briefing ONCE's production team.
