Your sourcing team in China can supply a fresh demo script for the US store. The vendor can keep a virtual host on after the regular crew signs off. Before you pay for a month of coverage, make the overnight shift earn a place on the schedule.
What the Shopee Live example shows
In its November 5, 2026 announcement about Bio-Essence, AnyMind Group described a Malaysian Shopee Live program that used virtual hosts outside regular operating hours alongside daytime human hosts. That is evidence of how one program was staffed. It does not establish what your store will sell overnight, or how much of that demand would have converted in the morning.
Build an overnight shift ledger
Ask the vendor to quote a test for one market, one lead SKU and one quiet block. Pair comparable nights by weekday and campaign conditions; where practical, randomly assign one night in each pair to AI coverage and leave the other on its usual schedule. Keep daytime staffing and offers stable, track traffic and stock disruptions, and exclude major disruptions using rules agreed before the test. If a human already covers the slot, keep that shift in the comparison to measure replacement rather than added coverage.
Set the observation window before launch so it includes the following main selling period. Compare store contribution within that market over the whole window, even for orders the live dashboard does not claim. Start with net sales after discounts and returns, subtract order costs such as goods, fulfillment and fees, then subtract streaming costs: vendor charges, setup allocated over the agreed pilot, language and script review, monitoring and morning cleanup. Use the same return follow-up for both groups and avoid deducting any item twice.
Give the morning team a vote
Imagine your store sells an adjustable monitor arm. Overnight orders rise, but the morning queue fills with shoppers who were told the clamp would fit desks outside the documented thickness range. Log the correction time and look for returns before calling the shift profitable. Have the China team confirm the exact SKU and demo limits; give the market team the authority to pause the stream when a claim falls outside that approved brief. If the underlying footage needs work, see ONCE’s guide to combining live action with AI production.
Renew only the blocks that repeatedly add contribution and keep support work within the agreed limit. If one block works and the rest do not, buy the shorter shift. If order volumes or returns are too uncertain to support a decision, extend the comparison before committing to a longer contract.
