THE PRODUCTION BRIEF
ONCE VISUAL plans 3D product animation and live-action combinations for product brands. Start with the available model and the intended shots, then define modelling, materials, animation and version delivery. The work can support launches, ecommerce pages or sales presentations, with the production scope based on the actual product information.
Decide what each animated shot needs to explain
A surface close-up, a component separation and a real hand operating a product need different solutions. Animation can control the view and visual treatment of the product. Internal explanations also need approved structural information; handling and real-use actions may be better covered with live footage.
The broader product video production service covers real-use films. This service focuses on the work required to prepare a product model, agree its appearance and turn it into useful animated shots.
Review the model before promising the finished look
An engineering file may need cleaning or conversion before it can support advertising close-ups. Check scale, visible surfaces, part organisation and the level of detail required by the camera. If no usable model exists, product measurements, reference photography and a sample help establish the modelling scope.
Choose representative stills to review the materials and lighting. Metal, plastics, clear parts and brand colours should have appropriate references. Once the look is agreed, a rough animation can establish camera movement, component motion and timing before final rendering.

Portfolio reference: move from the complete form to its parts

The tinyrho MT5600 product animation establishes the massage gun's outline, moves into transparent and separated component imagery, and returns to the handle and surface details. The sequence gives the overall form and the structural views distinct roles.
This is a visual reference from the public film. A new explanation of internal operation requires the client's technical confirmation. An advertising animation should not be treated as engineering simulation or product testing.
Scope the deliverables and future changes
A launch film, a short component explanation and a sales presentation segment need different edits. The proposal can include a principal film, individual feature segments, text-free versions, subtitles, format adaptations or selected stills. Define them before production so the model and shot plan serve the intended uses.
Model files, editable animation projects, licensed assets and future product updates need a separate handover agreement. A colour change and a new component design may require substantially different work. Pricing depends on model preparation, visible detail, materials, shot complexity, rendering and the number of versions.
Questions when preparing the brief
Can we start without a CAD file?
Start with a feasibility discussion. Measurements, reference images and a sample determine what can be modelled. Internal views require enough reliable information to support the intended explanation.
Can animation be added to an existing live-action film?
Share the original footage and the intended insertion. Camera movement, lighting, resolution and interaction with people or a real set affect tracking and compositing work.
What should we send first?
Send the model or available product references, version status, material details, intended use and preferred visual references. Identify the structures that may be shown and the person who will approve them. The guide to generated 3D model readiness is useful if AI-generated geometry is part of your input.
