Using a creator video in Spark Ads requires the correct post authorization and a separate review of the rights needed for the planned advertisement. TikTok's guide supports authorized identities and creator-provided post codes. That technical permission should be matched to the actual creator agreement, media rights and campaign dates.

Facts to specify

Identify the exact post and authorization

Record the creator account, post URL, authorized identity or code, and the authorization period displayed for that post. Keep the record with the campaign's asset list. Check it again when the schedule changes; a campaign extension should not silently run beyond an agreed usage period.

Review the final caption before authorization. TikTok states that an authorized post's caption cannot be edited, and that a private video used in a campaign becomes public during promotion. Discuss those consequences with the creator before selecting the post.

Match paid use to the agreement

Identify the advertiser, destinations, territories and duration allowed by the agreement. Confirm whether edited versions, subtitles, the creator's likeness and paid distribution are included. Check music and third-party appearances independently; possession of a post code does not establish all of those permissions.

For a US campaign, review any material-relationship disclosure using the FTC's guidance. For other markets, have the responsible campaign reviewer confirm the applicable requirements. Keep disclosure visible in the actual advertisement and post rather than only in a delivery note.

Check activation and retirement

  • Verify that the selected identity and post match the approved record.
  • Confirm the product, landing page and call to action.
  • Review the preview, caption and disclosure before activation.
  • Record the campaign end and the person responsible for stopping or renewing use.

If authorization expires or rights are withdrawn, follow the platform's current controls and the agreement. Check the affected campaigns instead of assuming that removing a local asset also stops distribution. This record supports operational review; it is not a substitute for resolving contract questions with the responsible rights reviewer.
