Your team is deciding which opening to commission for the next Amazon video ad. An Amazon Marketing Cloud analysis connects ad exposure with off-Amazon conversions and splits the result by creative, device and date. The export contains A but no B. Someone fills the gap with zero conversions and recommends retiring B.

That is premature. ONCE recommends preserving three states: an interpretable result, an explicitly returned zero, and missing information awaiting investigation. Before commissioning more variants, establish the level at which the available analysis can actually answer the creative question.

Aggregated reporting has limits

Amazon’s current AMC overview describes aggregated, anonymous outputs with privacy-protecting aggregation thresholds. The official Off-Amazon conversions playbook’s indexed caution warns that excessive granularity can cause redaction, mentioning creative, postal code and daily or hourly dimensions.

This concerns AMC and the relevant off-Amazon analysis, not a universal rule for every standard Amazon report. The materials were checked November 1, 2026; exact publication dates were not established. No single user threshold is prescribed here for every field.

ONCE’s inference is that a missing row cannot, by itself, establish zero activity. The reverse inference is also unsafe: absence does not diagnose privacy suppression. Missing inputs, filters, failed relationships or other issues need investigation by the analysis owner.

Keep three states in the production decision

This proposed reporting distinction is not an official AMC status system or a completed account test.

StateCheck firstRetire the creative?
Interpretable resultVersion, scope, metric and comparison conditionsEvaluate against the original question, not rank alone
Explicit zeroMeaning of that row, coverage and query definitionIt describes the defined result, not universal ineffectiveness
Missing, unresolvedExecution, inputs, relationships and privacy limitsInvestigate; do not fill with zero

Preserve these states when loading a spreadsheet or asking AI to draft a review. Add a status and investigation owner without overwriting the original missing value. AI can organize the questions; it cannot supply withheld detail from a total.

More variants do not guarantee more answers

Imagine two product-video openings evaluated across three device groups and seven days: 2 × 3 × 7 creates 42 possible cells. This is a fictional design illustration, not campaign data or a promise that the system returns 42 rows.

More cells do not ensure adequate, relevant, returnable information in each. Nor can a team multiply a quoted threshold by 42 to calculate required users or spend: people can overlap across cells, and the actual query rules matter.

For a brand coordinating overseas marketing with a China production team, this changes the brief. If the immediate decision is which opening deserves another test, device-by-day answers may be unnecessary. Have media and measurement owners propose a feasible comparison scope before buying a large batch of edits and expecting a winner from every cut.

Specify the learning scope alongside deliverables

ONCE suggests three brief entries: the question being compared, the reporting level expected to answer it, and the decision owner if information is missing or inconclusive. These are planning commitments, not guarantees that a platform will return data.

An analyst can assess whether fewer dimensions or a suitable observation range preserve the business question. A broader aggregate answers a broader question; do not label it as the original narrow result. Waiting longer is not automatically a remedy when the product, offer or delivery conditions have changed.

Standard reports may help check that activity exists or that filters make sense, after definitions are aligned. Do not subtract visible cells from another report’s total to reconstruct withheld detail, or design queries to bypass privacy controls.

Separate a reporting repair from a production need

A query or export problem calls for data-workflow repair, not a reshoot. A question finer than the available information calls for revised measurement scope. New footage has a clear purpose when existing assets cannot form the intended comparison—for example, when both the opening and offer changed together.

Scope new concepts, comparable edit adjustments and authorized version-to-report handoff separately. Production records what changed; media and analysis teams explain what the available readings support. Neither should promise a winner in every round or treat every unknown as a reason to buy more production.

ONCE’s video marketing analysis helps frame the next decision, and its production guidance supports the required material. For ongoing content management, retain what could be observed and what remained unknown. Keep missing information missing until there is a sound basis for the next production instruction.
