A connected media plan does not create a connected viewing experience. A shopper may first meet a product on a living-room screen, see a muted demonstration on a phone, and compare the details next to a product page. The budget can move as one system; the creative still has to earn its place in each moment.

On September 29, 2026, Amazon Ads announced that Full-Funnel Campaigns had entered open beta for US advertisers selling on Amazon. The product coordinates sponsored ads, display, video, and streaming TV through one budget and one optimization engine. Advertisers provide products, budget, and an optional ROAS threshold; Amazon’s AI selects formats, reallocates spend, and optimizes. Built-in tools can also help generate images and TV-ready video for advertiser approval.

Those are platform facts. ONCE’s production inference is narrower: once media orchestration crosses formats, the useful procurement unit is no longer “one finished film per channel.” It is a governed set of product truths, evidence modules, clean masters, adaptable fields, and approved compositions.

One engine still serves several viewing conditions

Amazon’s own specifications show why a universal export is fragile. Streaming TV runs full-screen and non-skippable. A non-interactive STV ad should not show button-shaped click prompts. Interactive video may add a shopping overlay, and Amazon says that overlay must not obstruct primary content, claims, disclosures, product information, a complete primary product shot, or the main logo.

Amazon video ads on shopping surfaces behave differently: autoplay begins when at least half the unit is visible, playback is muted by default, the core message should arrive in the first five seconds, and a templated layout may place the brand logo, headline, and call to action beside the player. Video files can also be transcoded for the placement.

If price, rating, logo, CTA, and disclaimer are permanently burned into a single file, the platform can duplicate them or place an overlay over the evidence. Yet shooting every placement from scratch creates a different problem: the same product claim may be demonstrated with inconsistent actions, lighting, or qualification.

The ONCE LAYER framework for production delivery

LAYER is not a count of editing tracks. It is a five-part acceptance model that keeps automation useful without surrendering product accuracy.

L — Locked truth

Protect the product identity, approved claims, operating sequence, and visible conditions of use. Any benefit that depends on physical proof should have a complete action and an examinable result. A required disclosure stays attached to the evidence it qualifies.

A — Adaptable fields

Price, promotion, rating, availability, headline, shopping benefit, and CTA change more often than the product truth. Keep them out of the long-life master when the platform can supply them. Deliver a clean master, replaceable text layers, a separate brand mark, and a field-approval sheet.

Y — Yield-safe composition

Storyboard for the screen and the layer likely to sit above it. Mark action-safe space, interactive-overlay risk, and vertical crops before production. Capture wider clean plates and alternate framings so a useful product action can be recomposed instead of merely chopped at the sides.

E — Evidence modules

Film compact proof units with a starting condition, a key action, and a visible outcome. A brand scene may open discovery; a hand-led demonstration may work in online video; a comparison or objection-handling shot may sit closer to purchase. The modules share truth without sharing one forced rhythm.

R — Release map

Track market, language, SKU, aspect ratio, duration, sound condition, claim version, eligible placement, approver, and expiry date. AI can assemble approved material; it should not decide whether an old price or an unapproved regional claim is still valid.

Choose one of three production paths

PathWhen it fitsMinimum deliveryMain failure mode
One strict-spec videoLimited budget, one SKU, simple proposition, few changing fields16:9 clean master, sound-off clarity, key frames, replaceable fieldsCompatibility removes placement-specific persuasion
Modular cross-placement systemLong-running media, several audiences, frequent benefit testingEvidence library, hero edit, cutdowns, recompositions, field sheet, release mapWeak naming and approval rules multiply version debt
Hero film plus conversion proofPremium or complex launches that need both brand meaning and detailed proofDistinct hero film plus demonstrations, comparisons, claims, and objection-handling shotsThe brand promise and product evidence drift apart

Amazon has also published a resource-saving case for using a single video across the funnel, so one video is not automatically the wrong answer. It works when the master meets the strictest intended conditions and the delivery still includes clean material and meaningful frames. A promotional export with a baked-in button is not the same thing as a durable master.

Price the accepted compositions, not the export count

A file-count quote rewards mechanical resizing. A more useful procurement denominator is:

Fully loaded cost per usable composition = (concept and script + production + modular editing + clean masters and key frames + metadata and naming + overlay QA + approval archive) ÷ accepted market-placement compositions.

The denominator is not the number of files. A vertical cut that hides the key action, or a TV version that still contains a click button, is not a usable composition. This model also exposes an artificially low bid that omits clean masters, field maps, overlay tests, and release ownership.

Teams sourcing product, studio, and version production from China can use ONCE’s ecommerce product video production framework as the production starting point, then add the five LAYER acceptance items to the brief.

Six lines to add to the next production brief

  1. Name three product truths that must be proved with real footage.
  2. List commercial fields that must remain replaceable.
  3. Specify sound condition, aspect ratio, and overlay risk for each placement.
  4. Define the start, action, and visible result for every proof module.
  5. Require clean masters, key frames, text layers, and a release map.
  6. Accept and price compositions, not cosmetic file variations.

Full-Funnel Campaigns is currently a US rollout, not proof that every retail media network has converged. The durable decision is more modest: as platforms get better at allocating media and assembling creative, brands should become more precise about what must remain true, what may change, and who approved each release.
