A buyer may ask an AI assistant whether a product works in their country, fits an existing system, or carries a local warranty before they ever open the brand’s website. At that point, being absent is a missed opportunity. Being confidently wrong can create a bad purchase.
That changes the first investment a brand should make in AI discovery. Before commissioning dozens of GEO pages or buying a larger prompt-monitoring platform, identify the facts that can change a purchase, installation, return, or service decision. Give those facts an owner, evidence, a review clock, and a correction path.
The signal: accuracy is becoming an operating responsibility
On October 8, 2026, Adobe and Heathrow Airport announced an expanded partnership. The release says Heathrow will use Adobe Brand Visibility to improve the discoverability and accuracy of its content across AI-powered search, including interfaces such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Perplexity AI. It also says Heathrow serves more than 84.5 million passengers annually and its website receives more than 50 million visits each year. The announcement establishes the scope and intent of the partnership.
It does not establish a lift in bookings, passenger satisfaction, or revenue. Nor can one vendor announcement prove that every industry has completed the same transition.
Adobe’s June 17 launch description for Brand Visibility covers prompt intelligence, brand mentions, citations, content gaps, and optimization actions. Those are product capabilities, not universal outcome guarantees. The structural signal is narrower and more useful: a major service organization is treating the accuracy of AI-mediated answers as part of digital experience management.
Google Search’s current guidance for generative AI features reinforces the content-side constraint. AI features still depend on crawlable, useful, current pages and product information. Google explicitly discourages manufacturing a separate page for every possible query variation and says there is no special writing style required for AI search. Monitoring can reveal a gap, but it cannot create a trustworthy source of truth.
Separate an absence problem from an accuracy problem
Teams often combine two different failures:
- Visibility failure: the answer does not mention the brand or cite its content.
- Accuracy failure: the brand appears, but the answer uses stale pricing, availability, compatibility, certification, warranty, lead-time, or service information.
Visibility affects opportunity. Accuracy can create the wrong promise. Both matter, but they demand a different order of operations.
If the website, product feed, distributor sheet, support knowledge base, and video all state the same fact differently, a more sophisticated monitoring dashboard will not shorten correction time. The team will collect more screenshots while still debating which source should change, who can approve it, and which markets need the update.
This is why a brand preparing for agentic commerce needs a transaction-ready product content pack, not just a polished landing page. It also needs recomposable content assets so a correction does not require rebuilding every finished video. AI discovery adds one more requirement: each high-impact fact must be easy to verify, update, and retire.
Build a Decision-Critical Fact Register
Do not begin with “we need GEO.” Begin with actual pre-purchase, installation, returns, and support questions. For each fact, record:
| Field | Operational question |
|---|---|
| Approved fact | What exact statement may appear publicly? |
| Decision affected | Can it change purchase, use, installation, return, or service behavior? |
| Scope | Which market, language, SKU, model, or channel does it cover? |
| Authoritative source | Which product, legal, engineering, or commercial record governs it? |
| Visual proof | Does it need a label close-up, measurement, compatibility demo, install step, or pack list? |
| Owner | Who approves the first version and future changes? |
| Last verified | Who confirmed it, and on what date? |
| Review clock | When must it be checked again, and what event triggers an early review? |
| Correction route | In what order do the site, feed, distributor material, video, and support script change? |
Broad claims such as “wireless,” “durable,” or “travel-ready” rarely deserve the first slot. Decision-critical facts do: voltage, dimensions, installation conditions, certified markets, accessory compatibility, warranty scope, subscription requirements, inventory, and delivery promises.
Prioritize with correction exposure, not mention volume
ONCE uses a relative planning value:
Correction exposure E = Decision impact I × Volatility V × Channel spread S × Correction latency L
Score each variable on a team-defined 1–4 scale. This is not an industry benchmark and it does not predict revenue loss. It is a queueing tool that lets product, marketing, support, commerce, and production teams compare different risks using the same questions.
- Decision impact: Would a wrong answer cause an unusable purchase, safety issue, compliance problem, or substantial support burden?
- Volatility: Does the fact change annually, monthly, weekly, or continuously?
- Channel spread: Is it present on one page or repeated across a site, marketplace, distributor network, video library, and support system?
- Correction latency: Can the organization repair it in hours, or must it cross regions, legal review, and external partners?
Safety, compliance, compatibility, and fulfilment facts often surface first. But business consequence should override category labels. A stable installation requirement can outrank a fast-changing promotion if an error makes the product unusable.
This model also prevents a common procurement mistake: selecting AI-visibility work entirely by prompt volume. A high-volume query about brand inspiration may be commercially less urgent than a lower-volume question about regional certification.
Content production needs proof units
Accuracy is not only a copy problem. Google’s guidance notes that relevant images and video can appear in generative search experiences. For manufacturers and commerce brands, each decision-critical fact should therefore have a reusable proof unit:
- one approved factual statement;
- one visual that actually shows the fact, such as a port, nameplate, measurement reference, installation action, or package contents;
- a market and SKU qualifier;
- editable caption, narration, and alt-text components;
- an expiry or withdrawal rule.
This changes the production brief. Instead of asking only for “six videos,” ask how many facts will be established, how many proof units will be captured, which markets they cover, and which future updates are included.
When a fact changes, the brand can replace the relevant shot, caption, feed field, and support entry instead of reshooting the entire campaign. The production company becomes part of the correction system, while the brand retains the authority to approve the claim.
When a visibility platform becomes worth buying
Monitoring becomes much more useful after three prerequisites are in place:
- The team has listed its most consequential customer questions and identified the owned source it wants systems to reference.
- Every high-risk fact has an owner, review clock, and editable source.
- An incorrect answer can become a specific correction ticket rather than a screenshot stored in a slide deck.
If those conditions are missing, run a two-week accuracy sprint before expanding tooling. Choose one product line and one market. Consolidate the decision-critical facts, capture missing proof units, and test a fixed set of questions across the AI interfaces that matter to the business. Record the date, answer, citations, error type, owner, and actual time to correction.
Do not treat one answer as a permanent ranking, and do not promise that editing one page will control every model. The IAB’s August 2026 visibility playbook notes that more than 20 companies were already selling AI-visibility measurement using differing methods. That is another reason to judge a vendor by methodology, reproducibility, coverage, and connection to a correction workflow—not by one share-of-voice score.
The next investment can then extend monitoring, routing, and cross-market governance. At that point the brand is not buying a prettier visibility report. It is buying a shorter, more accountable path from finding a wrong answer to repairing the sources that produced it.
AI answering first does not make the brand website obsolete. It makes the website, product data, proof video, distributor material, and support content jointly responsible for an answerable source of truth. Govern what cannot be wrong before paying to be mentioned more often.
